When do you ship?
We ship on Mondays & Tuesdays each week to ensure same week deliveries and to ensure that no shipments sit over the weekends with the carriers. If an order were to sit over a weekend, the meat would most likely thaw completely and not be consumable. Orders MUST be received by Tuesday at 10 AM. Central Time to ensure same week deliveries. Most orders will be delivered within 2-3 business days. No orders will be delivered on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.
How are orders packaged for shipment?
All products are packed in Styrofoam insulated boxes which are placed inside corrugated cardboard boxes with at least 5 lbs of dry ice or an ample supply of gel packs to keep your products as cold as possible during transit.
Will my order arrive frozen?
All meat is shipped frozen, but may not arrive completely frozen solid. We guarantee that every order will arrive chilled (40 degrees Fahrenheit at the warmest). If your meat order is cold to the touch, it should be safe to consume and even to refreeze (see USDA guidance). However, if your products are at room temperature or warm to the touch upon arrival, please contact us immediately.
Can I pick up my order on the farm?
Local customers are welcome to place an order online and choose the option for farm store pick up during normal business hours or a pre-scheduled time.
Where do you ship?
We will ship within the Continental U.S. We cannot ship to PO boxes.UPS will not ship to a PO box. Please make sure that your address is entered correctly before finalizing your order. Salger’s Ostrich Products is not responsible for incorrect shipping addresses
Which carriers do you use?
We use UPS as our shipping provider. The UPS shipping methods that we offer include Ground, 3- Day Select, 2nd Day Air, Next Day Air Saver, Next Day Air, Next Day Air Early AM.
To which states do you ship via UPS Ground?
To ensure that all products arrive mostly frozen or chilled, we offer UPS Ground shipping only to locations that are within 2 UPS ground transit days of our farm. We offer expedited shipping services such as 2-Day or Overnight only to locations that are more than 2 UPS Ground transit days from our farm.
Do you ship on holidays?
We will not ship on the following holidays: Memorial Day, or the week of the 4th of July, Labor Day, the week of Christmas,
How are shipping charges calculated?
There is NO SHIPPING MARKUP. The shipping cost displayed at checkout is the carrier fee + the Styrofoam cooler cost + the dry ice or gel pack cost. Once you enter your address at checkout, various shipping options will be shown to you along with their respective costs. Your shipping cost per lb of meat will always be lower as the quantity of meat that you purchase increases.
What should I do if there is a problem with or damage to my shipment?
Please contact us immediately if there is any kind of damage to your shipment or if there appears to be something wrong with your products. How should I unpack my order? If your order is packed with dry ice, use gloves or an oven mitt to carefully dispose of any remaining dry ice before removing the products from the package. BE CAREFUL. Dry ice can burn your skin. If your order is packed with gel packs, remove them and save them for future use if possible. As you unpack your products, please notify us immediately if there are any damages to or issues with your products.
